Demize NPSL returned home with another point after tying FC Wichita 1-1 in an intense game.
The Heartland Conference matchup took place Saturday evening at Stryker Sports Complex in
Wichita, Kansas.

Although FC Wichita controlled the ball well in the first half, both teams managed to created
opportunities but failed to find the back of the net in a scoreless 45 minutes.

In the second half, Demize NPSL again managed to hold the pressure and stay organized which
led to a string of possession in the 67th minute. The result was Erik Pereira scoring on a volley
that came off the end of a cross played by Quentin Hornung on his debut.

FC Wichita stayed focused and managed to score the equalizer shortly after with a great finish by
Franck Tayou. Things got more difficult for the Demize in the 75th minute as they went down a
man. Regardless of being a player down for over 15 minutes, the Demize held the scoreline at 1-
1 following a few tactical substitutions from Guilherme Ferreira. Demize NPSL now sat at five
points in four games and looked to prepare for their matchup at home with Club Atletico Saint
Louis on Tuesday, June 11.

Saint Louis came to Springfield coming off a 5-0 win against Ozark FC. The match got off to a
rough start as starting goalkeeper Alejandro Quiriti went down with a head injury ten minutes in,
forcing Demize to sub Lucas Daunhauer into the game. The game saw several others Demize
players go down with injuries. Demize came out strong following a scoreless first half and went
1-0 up as Matt Yankowitz scored off yet another Quentin Hornung assist.

The home team had multiple counter attacking opportunities late in the game, but the final score
held at 1-0 with a strong performance by the Demize back line of Erik Pereira, captain Matt
Perry, Athos Monteiro, Stephen Al-Sayed, and Isaac Pimenta coming off the bench. They now
prepare to face top of the table Tulsa Athletic in their final home game on Saturday, June 15.
Demize NPSL finished out the first half of their season with eight points.
