Springfield Demize win 6-3 at historic Hartman Arena

Springfield Demize win 6-3 at the historic Hartman arena against FC Wichita. The Demize second match in the group stage of the M3 Heartland cup saw Abou Diallo find the back of the net in the 1st quarter. The man of the match for the Demize. Abou would talley his 5th goal of the season and for good measure add two assists. The second goal saw Domi " The Hulk, " Salcedo chip a ball to the back post off a free kick for Luis Santillan to score with a header beating the Wichita keeper.
Halftime saw the Demize in the lead 2-1and at the third quarter saw Captain Erik Pereira and defenders Dominique Salcedo, and Gerald Valera each finding the back of the net. The team scored three unanswered goals to take a 5-1 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Coach Chris Hanlon stated “It was important for us to not only maintain the lead but also do a better job of handling the sixth attacker during the fourth quarter, then we did against Sunflower State FC, when the game starts to get hectic. It was exciting to see the team stay unbeaten early in the season and handle the adversity well as a team, during our first road trip.“
FC Wichita would make the game interesting scoring two goals late in the game playing with a sixth attacker starting at the 7:30 mark in the fourth quarter. Fortunately for the Demize the game would end with Abou having the teams sixth goal stopping the Wichita comeback dead in its tracks.
The Demize will be back in action at Lake Country soccer January 15th against Des Moines United, kickoff at 7:30pm. Come out and support your city’s arena soccer team as they continue their pursuit of the heartland cup.
