CHARLESTON, S.C. (Feb. 17, 2011) – Consistent with US Club Soccer’s goal of providing a vehicle through which clubs can offer life-long soccer to their members, the organization has announced the formation of the National Adult Leagues U-20 Division.

US Club Soccer’s National Adult Leagues is a program comprised of high-quality, competitive and low-cost local leagues for men and women which provides a structure for adult soccer in the United States.

At the core of the program are the principles that team standing should be determined on the field, and that promotion and relegation should decide the standing of a club. Within a clearly-defined framework and structure, clubs may now progress from local to regional, and regional to national competition based on their on-field performance. Clubs also have the opportunity to play exclusively local.

The inaugural season of US Club Soccer’s National Adult Leagues U-20 Division will kick off in May 2011, but eventual plans also include a U-23 Division and an Open Division.

Aimed at providing top-level competition for current and potential collegiate players, the inaugural season of the National Adult Leagues U-20 Division will run through July and include 8 to 10 regular-season games.

The 2011 National Adult Leagues U-20 Division National Championship will be held July 29 – Aug. 1 at Hubbard Soccer Fields in Boise, Idaho, in conjunction with US Club Soccer’s National Cup X Finals. Participation in this event will not require an additional team entry fee.

The summer time frame for the National Adult Leagues U-20 Division coincides with the collegiate offseason and allows players to prepare for preseason with continued development opportunities throughout the summer. Plans for the U-23 and Open divisions include year-round play.

“Clubs dedicate a significant amount of time and effort throughout the years developing players, relationships and competitive ethics, and US Club Soccer believes that there is no reason for this to end when players conclude their U-18/19 season,” said Bill Sage, US Club Soccer’s Executive Director. “The National Adult Leagues program fills the void of providing summer games to college players, and it also provides senior-level competition for other high-level players looking to continue their careers within the club in an expanded role.”

Following the successful world model of full integration at all ages, US Club Soccer’s National Adult Leagues intend to expand adult soccer at all levels of play, thereby allowing clubs to connect youth and adult soccer seamlessly and develop “members for life.”

The Springfield Demize Reserve team is entering a new stage in it’s development, providing a more competitive atmosphere to provide the Springfield Demize Premier Development League squad with a fully functional Reserve program.  Twelve players on the 2010 Reserve roster are or will be Collegiate athletes in the next three months, with multiple players having first team experience in either the Springfield Demize PDL or Premier Arena Soccer League (PASL) over the last year.  Players will be battling for a call up over the course of the season to compete against one of the strongest Springfield Demize PDL rosters put together to date, a list of these players can be found here. 

The Springfield Demize Reserve Team for the 2010 campaign will be coached by Dean Grey, assistant coach of the Southwest Baptist University Womens Soccer Team.  Grey attended William Woods University in Fulton, Mo which is now a D2 program.  Grey also earned his Premier Development League start with the New Orleans Shell Shockers before making a switch to the Springfield Demize PDL squad for the 2010 season.  Below you can find the entire 2010 Springfield Demize Reserve Roster along with a game schedule, with the highlighted game being against Joplin United FC, a semi-professional team out of Joplin, Missouri.
