Demize pull out huge result versus Des Moines Menace
Wednesday night was one to remember as the Springfield Demize notched a fantastic opening game result, a 1-0 win at Lake Country Soccer at Cooper Stadium. After billing this years Demize line up as the strongest ever put together, owner and General Manager Chris Hanlon wanted his squad to hold his own against his former club.
Hanlon spent three years with Des Moines, modeling the Demize after the successful franchise here in Springfield, MO. Eric Martin scored the game winner in the 76th minute when Gerard Barbero set him up with a ball behind the Menace defense. Barbaro, a Missouri State University student, spent time with the Menace last season, along with starting keeper Trevor Spangenberg. Barbaro was an integral member of the Premier Arena Soccer League season for the Demize being a key goal threat for the team, and he is looking to carry that form into the outdoor season.
The Springfield Demize have until the 18th to prepare for a double header weekend with Real Colorado at home. Cooper Sports Complex will host the Foxes on Friday night which will be Magic Soccer Club Night while Saturday night will be dubbed Total Demize Soccer Club Night. Friday’s game has a 7:00pm kick off time scheduled with a 3:00pm game on Saturday scheduled on the 19th.
