Total Demize U18 Girls win Midwest Kickoff Classic

Total Demize U18 Girls start the season with a bang as they win their first tournament of the season.

The Total Demize Soccer Club U18 Girls traveled to the Midwest Kickoff Classic, a Kansas City tournament hosted by Blue Valley Stars and KC Select.  They started the tournament facing off against Evolution Futbol Club out of Wichita, ranked number six in Kansas.  Being their first competitive game of the season, the girls got off to a slow start as is to be expected after a long summer lay off.  But the work in pre season paid off as Jordyn Hoskins finished her chance in the second half to win the game 1-0.

The second game was against the hosts, Blue Valley Stars Deportivo.  The home team was ranked number 15 in Kansas heading into the match, but the TDSC U18 girls continued with a full head of steam.  Hoskins was on point again as Camia B notched her first two goals for the club.  The defense did show some signs of fatigue as they allowed a goal with Blue Valley Stars Deportivo scoring off of a corner kick.

The TDSC U18 girls faced their first Missouri based opponent as Raytown Chili Peppers stood between them and the finals. The number eight ranked team in Missouri was the semi-finalist contender that stood as the final test, and they proved to be tough competition.  The second half again proved to be the time to shine for the TDSC U18 girls as Rachel Murphy, who makes her long awaited return from an ACL knee injury, turned provider up top.  Receiving the ball at the top of the 18 the Nixa High School forward played the ball into Kaley C’s path who scored the game winner.

It would be a battle between Springfield and Saint Louis for the Final of the Kansas City based tournament as Total Demize SC 18 Girls faced off against Ajax Elite Thunder.  Having games under their belt the TDSC U18 girls were able to get a rhythm to their game with Murphy scoring twice in the first half.  Murphy’s first goal game as Nixa HS teammate Abby Turnbull played a diagonal into the box for the forward to finish. Murphy got her second of the game after good hold up play from Camia B, who squared the ball as Murphy blasted her shot to the upper corner.  Drianna Raff added the third cushion goal in the second half.  Glendale High School player Emma Palmisano sent HS teammate Raff into space, and the speedy Sophomore did the rest.  The forward beat her defender before rounding the goalkeeper to slot in the final goal to win the tournament.  Megan and the TDSC U18 girls defense ended the tournament with three shut outs.

Up next for the TDSC U18 girls is the Governor’s Cup on October 29th, located in Topeka, Kansas.
