The Springfield Demize has announced it’s Player Pool that will compete in the upcoming 2009-2010 Premier Arena Soccer League season. The Demize made a huge stride forward in their inaugural season, nearly making the Midwest Play-Offs against eventual PASL Premier finalists, the Kansas City Kings.
The Demize has benefited from such a strong opening season, earning two Professional games and a Provisional Professional team status, one away on December 19th against PASL Pro team Texas Outlaws, and a home game on January 16th against the Saint Louis Illusion. With all elite level games this season, the Demize have made moves to bolster their roster, including bringing in local talent to bolster their roster.
Five Drury Panthers that made it to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen and were also Great Lakes Valley Conference Champions will be part of the roster, with four returning from last season’s PASL squad. Danny Collins, Dave Emnett, Adam Peterson, and Taylor Stacy all return with PASL experience under their belts, while Josh Hokansan was brought in from the Demize Premier Development League team last season.
Returning stars Michael Gow and Jeremy Brown are sure to bring goals, while past and present Total Demize Soccer Club athletes have made the call up. Willis Zirschky and Marcus Fernandes will join the squad after their collegiate seasons are over, while Tanner Bennet, Jared Chaulker, Nathan Massey, Jonathan Malter, Kaleb Romero, Bradley Stillwagon, and Kyle "Toad" Slagle have been called up after impressive high school seasons.
The Demize have moved to bring in Rochester Thunder defender Justin Hoskins who will help to sure up the Demize back line. Hoskins also featured for the Cascade Surge, before becoming Co-Player of the Year for Rochester, also earning an invite to the USL Combine. The Demize will also feature many local athletes that have seen time with both the Demize PASL and PDL squads. Chris Miller, formerly of Swaner United, will be occupying the goalkeeper jersey, with Demize PASL returners Brad Moser and Daniel Ortega. Returning Demize athletes including Ryan Hambach, Andrew Vorce, and Joel Woodward will compliment local amateur all stars Ryan Barnhart and Jeremy Roper. Jon Unruh and Matt Stufflebeam will create depth in the goalkeeping position, while challenging for the starting keeping spot.
